Одно из сражений Войны за независимость [Revolutionary War], произошло 21 февраля 1776 под г. Уилмингтоном, шт. Северная Каролина, между сторонниками [Patriots] и противниками [Loyalists] самостоятельности американских колоний. Вошло в историю как "южный Лексингтон и Конкорд" ["Lexington and Concord" of the South]. Из 1600 лоялистов, принимавших участие в бою, 50 были убиты и ранены, 850 взяты в плен; из 1100 ополченцев-патриотов погиб один солдат и еще один был ранен. Молниеносный разгром лоялистов (бой продолжался около 3 минут) привел к тому, что жители штата включились в более активную борьбу за независимость и тем самым предотвратили вторжение англичан на территорию штата. На месте сражения создан заповедник - Национальное поле битвы "Морс-крик" [Moore's Creek National Battlefield]
